Turn Mazda Services Off or Back On

ScreenTune can stop Mazda Connect services your car doesn’t use, which frees memory for the screen and your phone connection. A service is turned off only when you select it, or when your vehicle profile shows the car lacks the hardware it serves. Everything else keeps running.

Turn a service back on, or off, after you buy

Section titled “Turn a service back on, or off, after you buy”

To bring back a service such as SiriusXM, or turn off another one:

  1. In My ScreenTune, open Change features and go to Setup.
  2. Find the service under Mazda services you don’t use:
    • Under Turned off for your Mazda, select Customize, then tap the service to keep it running. Use recommended puts the list back.
    • Under Also available to turn off, clear its Turn off choice to keep it running, or select it to turn the service off.
  3. Continue through Add-ons and select Review update. Your changes lists each service as Turn off … or Keep … running. Request the package (add or change ScreenTune features).
  4. In the car, choose UPDATE, or REPAIR if the prompt shows the version you already have.

New orders make the same choices on the Setup step of the configurator.

The section Mazda services you don’t use shows a running total of the memory freed.

  • Turned off for your Mazda lists what ScreenTune turns off for this vehicle: software for hardware the car does not have, and Stitcher, which has shut down. Open Customize and tap any item you want ScreenTune to leave running.
  • Also available to turn off lists the remaining services. Each one is turned off only if you select its Turn off choice.

Keep Mazda navigation if the car relies on it

Section titled “Keep Mazda navigation if the car relies on it”

Mazda maps and compass reads: “Leave on if your car has traffic sign recognition or Active Driving Display.” Turning it off affects more than the map:

  • Traffic sign recognition depends on Mazda navigation on equipped cars, even when you use CarPlay or Android Auto for directions. Keep navigation on and its SD card inserted if you use the traffic sign display. Mazda documents this in the MX-5 personalization settings, footnote 3 and the 2022 MX-5 owner’s manual.
  • Active Driving Display brightness, height, and saved driver positions are controlled by Mazda navigation on cars that have it.
  • The compass goes away, including the instrument-cluster compass that Touch while moving otherwise keeps working.
  • The clock still sets itself from GPS but no longer follows time zone or daylight saving changes. Set both under Settings → Clock, as on a car without the navigation SD card.

CD, DVD, and TV software stays unless the hardware is absent

Section titled “CD, DVD, and TV software stays unless the hardware is absent”

Software for a factory CD player, DVD player, or TV tuner is not on the list of services you can turn off. ScreenTune turns it off only when your vehicle profile shows the car does not have that hardware, and then it appears under Turned off for your Mazda. When the hardware is present or uncertain, it stays.

ScreenTune also leaves alone the fuel economy screens, vehicle status, maintenance reminders, car settings, dealer diagnostics, traffic, the music database, and spoken directions.

Services do not appear under Applications → Miatafy → WHAT’S INSTALLED. To see what your package turns off, open Change features in My ScreenTune: Setup shows the current choices.

On the car, a service you turned off no longer starts. A service you kept, or turned back on, works as it does on a stock car. If one you kept is not working, insert the ScreenTune USB and choose REPAIR (repair ScreenTune). If that does not fix it, see a feature is missing.

REMOVE restores the startup configuration saved at the first ScreenTune installation, so every service ScreenTune stopped loads again. See remove ScreenTune.
