Getting Started with Meters

Meters is an instrument display for the factory Gen 6 Mazda Connect screen. It is included at no extra charge when selected with a compatible ScreenTune build. The initial release is staged, so a Meters selection is reviewed before payment and delivery.

Meters is supplemental to the factory instrument cluster. Keep the factory cluster and warning lamps as your authoritative driving instruments, and configure the screen while parked.

Before you start

Meters follows ScreenTune compatibility. The CMU must be the first-generation Mazda Connect system running v74.00.324. Model year alone is not enough because Mazda changed screen generations at different times by model and market.

You do not need a phone, an OBD adapter, an account, or an internet connection. The display and its read-only telemetry service run on the CMU.

Open Meters

After the matching ScreenTune package is installed:

Open Applications on Mazda Connect.
Select Meters.
Wait briefly for the first fresh vehicle readings. A field shows an unavailable state until its source is ready.

If Meters is not listed, restart Mazda Connect once. If it is still missing, use the matching ScreenTune USB to run REPAIR or contact support.

Change the theme

Tap Meters in the header or press Right to choose the next theme. Press Left for the previous theme. The keyboard shortcut T performs the same next-theme action during development and bench use.

Switch between Full and Simple

Tap Info or press I to switch layouts:

Full keeps the primary speed and RPM instruments plus the secondary readings.
Simple reduces the display to the primary instruments when the theme has a distinct simplified composition.

BRG Heritage Refined, Dreamhouse Vanity Array, and Pop-Up Picnic intentionally hide the Info control because their Full and Simple compositions are the same.

Assign a secondary reading

The primary speed and RPM instruments stay fixed. Each of the eleven secondary positions can show any of the 59 selectable values.

Tap a visible secondary reading to open the data picker.
Choose Recent, Popular, a category, or All 59 Values.
Choose the reading for that position.

Commander rotation or Left/Right moves focus. Press Enter to select. Back returns from the value list to the categories, then closes the picker. The visible arrow controls provide the same paging path by touch.

The same reading can be assigned to more than one position. Raw source codes have a RAW badge and deliberately show no guessed unit or scale. The data reference lists every field.

Settings and restarts

Meters saves one versioned settings record containing the active theme, Full or Simple layout, and all eleven assignments. ScreenTune mirrors that record to durable local storage on the CMU.

Your choices survive an Opera browser restart and a normal CMU reboot. ScreenTune UPDATE and REPAIR preserve them. A complete ScreenTune REMOVE deletes Meters and its settings.

Language, units, and clock

Meters follows the active Mazda Connect settings for:

the interface language;
miles or kilometers;
Celsius or Fahrenheit; and
12-hour or 24-hour time.

The build includes complete catalogs for all 41 locale codes exposed by Mazda Connect v74. Meters waits for the real CMU settings instead of guessing defaults.

When a value is blank or unavailable

Meters rejects stale, malformed, or physically implausible readings. A field may temporarily show its unavailable state during startup, when a source has not refreshed, or when the car does not expose that value.

GPS values also require a usable fix and acceptable accuracy. A temporary blank is safer than presenting an old coordinate, speed, or heading as current.
