Getting Started with Meters

Meters is an instrument display for the factory Gen 6 Mazda Connect screen. It comes with ScreenTune at no extra charge when you add Miatafy Meters to your package.

Meters supplements the factory instrument cluster. Keep the cluster and warning lamps as your authoritative instruments, and set up the screen while parked.

Before you start

Meters runs wherever ScreenTune does (supported vehicles): a first-generation Mazda Connect system on v74.00.324 in any region. Settings → System → About shows 74.00.324A in North America, or 74.00.324 with a region code elsewhere.

You do not need a phone, an OBD adapter, or an internet connection in the car. Meters reads vehicle data already available to Mazda Connect. My ScreenTune, the online account, is used only to choose which themes the car carries.

Open Meters

After a ScreenTune package with Meters is installed:

1. Open Applications on Mazda Connect.
2. Select Meters.
3. Wait a moment for the first readings. A reading shows --- until its source is ready.

A reading that shows --- has no trustworthy value. Meters shows --- instead of a stale, malformed, or implausible value. It appears for a moment at startup, when a source stops updating, or when the car does not provide that value. GPS readings also show --- until the car has a usable fix, rather than an old position, speed, or heading.

If Meters is not listed, restart Mazda Connect once. If it is still missing, or a reading keeps showing ---, see Meters troubleshooting.

Change the theme from the list

Touch the screen to show the controls at the top left. Next to the home button, the arrow button opens the theme list. The theme on screen is marked and selected when the list opens.

• Rotate the commander knob or press Left/Right to move one theme at a time.
• Tilt Up/Down to move a row.
• Press the knob or Enter to apply the selected theme.
• Press Back to close the list without changing anything.

Choosing the theme already on screen closes the list and changes nothing.

Choose which themes are in the list

A new install carries the ten stock themes, starting on Dawnline: Dawnline, Night Circuit, Solar Roundel, Ultraviolet Drive, BRG Heritage Refined, Dreamhouse Vanity Array, Blackline Aperture, Pop-Up Picnic, JNC Stepped Frame, and Prism Daily. The Meters product page shows each one.

Use the commander knob without touching the screen

Rotating the knob steps through the visible readings in order, then the controls at the top: the theme list and, on themes with two layouts, the layout button. One more step clears the highlight, so nothing is lit. The next step starts again at the first reading.

• Press the knob on a highlighted reading to choose what it shows.
• Press it on a highlighted control to do what a tap would.
• With nothing highlighted, pressing the knob does nothing.
• Choosing a theme from the list clears the highlight. Closing the list with Back leaves it where it was, and changing the layout keeps it.

The commander’s Back button leaves Meters. The knob works at any speed, including when Mazda Connect has locked out touch, so you can change the theme and layout without reaching for the screen. With the knob, a highlighted control shows even while the rest of the top bar is hidden.

Switch between Full and Simple

Tap the layout button, to the right of the theme list button, or highlight it with the knob and press:

• Full shows the primary speed and RPM instruments plus the secondary readings.
• Simple reduces the display to the primary instruments.

BRG Heritage Refined, Dreamhouse Vanity Array, Pop-Up Picnic, and Prism Daily have a single layout, so they hide the layout button.

Assign a secondary reading

The primary speed and RPM instruments stay fixed. Each secondary position can show any of the 59 selectable values.

1. Tap a secondary reading, or highlight it with the knob and press, to open the data picker.
2. Choose Recent, Recommended, a category, or the list of all values.
3. Choose the reading for that position. It applies immediately.

In the picker, rotate the knob or press Left/Right to move, and press Enter to select. Back returns from the value list to the categories, then closes the picker. The on-screen arrows do the same by touch.

The same reading can go in more than one position. Raw factory codes carry a RAW badge and show no unit or scale. The data reference lists every field.

Each theme keeps its own setup

Meters remembers the readings in each position and the Full or Simple layout separately for every theme, along with the theme on screen. Switching themes and back returns each one as you left it.

Your choices survive a restart of Mazda Connect. ScreenTune UPDATE and REPAIR keep them, including when a package changes which themes are in the list. A package requested with Also reset Meters on the car to these choices replaces them once (details). ScreenTune REMOVE deletes Meters and its settings.

Language, units, and clock follow Mazda Connect

Meters uses the active Mazda Connect settings for:

• the interface language (all 41 languages and regions Mazda Connect offers);
• miles or kilometers;
• Celsius or Fahrenheit; and
• 12-hour or 24-hour time.
