Interface Beeps, Quicker Menus, and Reliability Fixes
These options change how Mazda Connect sounds and responds. Each one is separate, and all of them are on by default in new configurations.
| Option | What changes |
|---|---|
| Disable interface beeps | Menu beeps and some notification sounds stop. Your car’s warning settings are unchanged. |
| Shorter page delay | Holding the commander knob tilted in a list starts scrolling sooner and scrolls faster. |
| Loop the main menu | The main menu continues from the last item back to the first. |
| Loop lists | Other scrollable lists wrap from the last item back to the first. |
| Fix message ordering | Corrects a stock Mazda bug that can drop screen transitions or leave stale focus behind. |
| Less background logging | Mazda’s engineering logs use less memory. |
| Keep recent screens ready | The interface keeps more already-drawn screens in memory, so screens you return to need less reloading. |
Disable interface beeps silences the screen, not the car
Section titled “Disable interface beeps silences the screen, not the car”Disable interface beeps switches off the tone the interface plays when you press a control, and some notification sounds. The car’s warning chimes and warning settings are not part of the Mazda Connect interface and keep working.
This option has been on by default since ScreenTune 1.0.6. Turn it off if you rely on the beep to confirm a press.
Lists and menus respond sooner
Section titled “Lists and menus respond sooner”Shorter page delay. Hold the commander knob tilted up or down in a list and scrolling starts after about 0.15 seconds instead of 1.5 seconds, then moves faster than stock.
Loop the main menu. Moving past the last main-menu item returns to the first, and moving back from the first goes to the last.
Loop lists. Other lists, such as settings and music lists, wrap the same way. A list with a single item, or one you are reordering, does not wrap.
Reliability fixes work in the background
Section titled “Reliability fixes work in the background”Fix message ordering. Mazda’s interface has a defect that discards queued screen updates, which shows up as a stale screen or a missed transition after quick input. ScreenTune corrects it. The message-ordering fix documents the bug and the change.
Less background logging. Mazda Connect runs engineering logging all the time. ScreenTune turns it down, which frees memory for the interface and apps.
Keep recent screens ready. The browser engine that draws Mazda Connect’s screens gets a larger cache.
These three have no visible switch. They reduce glitches and memory pressure.
Turn them on or off
Section titled “Turn them on or off”New orders. In the configurator, the Setup step lists every option above under Everyday improvements. Select Customize to turn any of them off.
Existing customers. In My ScreenTune, open Change features, change the choices on Setup, and request the updated package (add or change ScreenTune features). In the car, choose UPDATE, or REPAIR if the prompt shows the version you already have.
Check that they work
Section titled “Check that they work”- Open Applications → Miatafy and select WHAT’S INSTALLED. Look for Quieter system controls (beeps), Faster menu response (page delay), Looping main menu, and Looping lists. The three reliability fixes are not listed there.
- Press a few on-screen buttons. There should be no beep.
- On the home screen, keep rotating the knob past the last main-menu item. The selection should return to the first.
- Open a long list, such as a settings list, and hold the commander knob tilted down. Scrolling should start almost at once.
If an option you selected is missing, insert the ScreenTune USB and choose REPAIR (repair ScreenTune). If that does not fix it, see a feature is missing.
What REMOVE restores
Section titled “What REMOVE restores”REMOVE restores the interface files, logging settings, and cache settings to their first-install baseline, the copies saved at the first ScreenTune installation. If the car was stock then, the beeps, the original scroll timing, non-looping menus, and Mazda’s message-ordering defect all return. See remove ScreenTune.
