Install, Update, Repair, or Remove ScreenTune
Your ScreenTune USB is ready to use. This guide starts with the finished drive—either the tested USB mailed by Miatafy or one you already prepared from your download. The same drive remains your installer, repair tool, and uninstaller.
Still need to make the drive? Stop here and follow the separate USB preparation guide first.
| What you see | What it does |
|---|---|
| INSTALL | Saves the original state, then installs the ScreenTune configuration made for this car. |
| UPDATE | Restores the saved baseline, then applies a newer ScreenTune package. |
| REPAIR | Restores the saved baseline, then cleanly reapplies the package on this USB. |
| REMOVE | Restores the files saved before the first ScreenTune installation. |
| CANCEL | Closes the prompt before any system changes. |
Before you insert the USB
Section titled “Before you insert the USB”- Use it only with the reviewed vehicle. Do not use the package on another car or combine its files with another ScreenTune USB.
- Keep the vehicle powered. Start the engine or use stable ignition-on power, then allow a few uninterrupted minutes.
- Use a media/data USB port. Plug the drive directly into the car. Do not use a hub, splitter, extension, or charge-only port.
ScreenTune checks the Mazda Connect firmware before changing the system. An unsupported or unreadable firmware version stops safely without installing anything.
Install ScreenTune
Section titled “Install ScreenTune”A normal installation takes about two minutes.
- Start the vehicle or switch to ignition-on mode.
- Wait for Mazda Connect to finish booting and show its normal home, Applications, or Settings screen.
- Insert the ScreenTune USB directly into a media/data USB port.
- Wait for the SCREENTUNE prompt, then select INSTALL.
- Leave the ignition on and the USB connected. Do not press buttons, switch off the vehicle, or remove the drive while ScreenTune is working.
- Wait for Mazda Connect to reboot and return to its normal screen.
- Remove the USB, check the ScreenTune features selected for this car, and store the drive somewhere safe.

Remove the USB only after Mazda Connect has restarted. Interrupting INSTALL, UPDATE, REPAIR, or REMOVE can prevent the selected action from completing. CANCEL is safe because it exits before system files are changed.
What to expect afterward
Section titled “What to expect afterward”ScreenTune remains installed through normal restarts and ignition cycles. You do not leave the USB connected or plug it in for every drive.
Confirm that the changes selected for your car work as expected. Some configurations also add an app such as Meters to the Mazda Connect Applications menu; other ScreenTune changes simply alter the existing interface or background behavior.
Keep the USB. You may need it to update, repair, or remove ScreenTune later.
Update, repair, or remove it later
Section titled “Update, repair, or remove it later”Insert the ScreenTune USB after Mazda Connect finishes booting. The buttons shown depend on the installed version and the package on the drive.
UPDATE: install a newer package
Section titled “UPDATE: install a newer package”Choose UPDATE when the USB contains a newer ScreenTune package supplied for this car. Confirm that the version shown on the prompt is the one you expect, then leave the USB connected until the reboot finishes.

REPAIR: reapply the current package
Section titled “REPAIR: reapply the current package”Choose REPAIR when a selected feature is missing or support asks you to reapply the current package. Repair restores the saved baseline first, then applies the complete configuration on the USB. It does not stack another patch on top.

REMOVE: uninstall ScreenTune
Section titled “REMOVE: uninstall ScreenTune”Choose REMOVE to restore the files saved before the first ScreenTune installation and remove its active runtime files. Use the matching USB for this car and leave it connected until the automatic reboot finishes.
The saved baseline may include older tweaks or manual changes that were already present when ScreenTune was first installed. It is a true first-install baseline, not necessarily a factory image. Restart the vehicle once more if a stock service has not reinitialized, then use revert and recovery options if the expected state does not return.
CANCEL: leave everything unchanged
Section titled “CANCEL: leave everything unchanged”Choose CANCEL if you opened the prompt by mistake or are unsure which action to use. The installer closes without changing Mazda Connect.
Fix a missing prompt or failed action
Section titled “Fix a missing prompt or failed action”| Result | What to do |
|---|---|
| No ScreenTune prompt | Wait for the normal Mazda screen, try the other media USB port, then use USB not working. |
| Unsupported firmware | Recheck the full version under Settings → System → About. The installer made no changes. |
| Prompt returns after a reboot | Select CANCEL, let Mazda Connect settle, then remove the USB. |
| A modifying action fails | Keep the vehicle powered through the rollback and reboot. Remove the USB only after the normal screen returns. |
| A selected feature is missing | Insert the matching USB again and choose REPAIR. |
| REMOVE did not restore the expected behavior | Restart the vehicle once more, then follow revert and recovery options. |
The installer writes screentune.log to the USB. If the prompt or result looks wrong,
stop and email hello@miatafy.com
with the order email, a photo of Settings → System → About, a description or photo
of what appeared on screen, and screentune.log. Those details usually identify the
problem without another trip to the car.
