ScreenTune When Selling the Car or Visiting a Dealer

ScreenTune is licensed to one car’s VIN. Selling the car, visiting a dealer, and coming back from a dealer visit each need a different step.

Before selling, transfer the license or run REMOVE

Pick one of two options. Neither has a transfer fee, and the original support and update dates carry over without restarting.

  • Leave ScreenTune with the car. Give the buyer the ScreenTune USB. Email support@miatafy.com with your order email, the car’s VIN, and the buyer’s email, and the license moves to the buyer.
  • Move the license to your next car. Run REMOVE first. Then email support your order email, both VINs, and a photo of the new car’s Settings → System → About screen. Support checks the new car before preparing its package. The license cannot stay active on the old car once it moves.

More detail is in email and ownership changes.

To hand over the car without ScreenTune, run REMOVE. It restores the first-install baseline, which is factory only if the car was stock at the first install. For guaranteed factory software, do a full firmware reflash.

Routine mechanical service does not touch Mazda Connect, so ScreenTune can stay installed. For any visit that involves the infotainment system, a dealer may run a firmware update, so prepare Mazda Connect first.

After REMOVE or a reflash, check on a cold start that Applications shows no Miatafy or Meters entry. If the car was stock before ScreenTune, the startup disclaimer also returns and touch locks while moving.

Keep the USB for reinstalling after the visit. The dealer visit guide covers what each kind of dealer work does to a Mazda Connect unit, how to ask for a firmware version, and warranty visits.

A dealer firmware update overwrites the system files ScreenTune changed and can change the firmware build. After any visit that involved the infotainment system, photograph Settings → System → About and contact support before you reuse the ScreenTune USB, even if the version reads the same.
