Meters FAQ: Compatibility, Data, Themes, and Updates

Meters missing from Applications, a reading stuck on ---, or themes not in the car? See Meters troubleshooting.

Why isn’t Meters in Applications?

Turn the ignition off and on, then check again. If it is still missing, run REPAIR from the ScreenTune USB, then check Applications → Miatafy → WHAT’S INSTALLED for Miatafy Meters. If it isn’t listed, your package doesn’t include Meters: add it with a feature change.

Is Meters a separate purchase?

No. Meters has its own product page and app, but it comes as part of ScreenTune at no extra charge. Add Miatafy Meters when you configure ScreenTune, or add it later with a feature change.

Which cars can run it?

The same cars as ScreenTune (supported vehicles): a factory first-generation (Gen 6) Mazda Connect system on v74.00.324 in any region (Settings → System → About shows 74.00.324A in North America). The ScreenTune configurator checks the exact car.

Does it need a phone, OBD adapter, or internet connection?

No. Meters runs on Mazda Connect and reads vehicle data the system already has. There is no phone app, OBD dongle, cloud connection, or extra screen in the car. My ScreenTune, the online account, is used only to choose which themes the car carries.

Where does the vehicle data come from?

A ScreenTune service on Mazda Connect reads values already available to the system and passes them to Meters. Meters checks each value’s type, range, age, and GPS quality before showing it. The data reference lists all 59 selectable fields.

Is it an engine tune or a replacement gauge cluster?

No. Meters does not change the engine, transmission, brakes, steering, airbags, stability control, or emissions systems. It is a supplemental display on the center screen. The factory instrument cluster and warning lamps stay authoritative.

How accurate are the readings?

Meters shows the values the car supplies and hides stale or implausible ones. Accuracy depends on the original vehicle source, and GPS fields also depend on fix quality.

Is the RPM red zone correct for every car?

A red zone appears only when the tachometer range for your vehicle has been verified. Other cars show a neutral 8,000 RPM scale without a marked red zone.

How do I change a theme or reading?

Use touch or the commander knob. Touch the screen to show the controls at the top left: the arrow button opens the theme list, and the button beside it switches Full and Simple. Tap any secondary reading to choose what it shows. Rotating the knob steps through the readings and then those controls, so both work without touching the screen. Getting started has the full control map.

Can I choose which themes are on the car, or make my own?

Yes. In My ScreenTune you choose up to 10 themes for the car’s list and the one it starts on, from the ten stock themes and up to 3 custom dashboards you design over your own photo, a stock image, or a color. Why do some themes have no layout button?

BRG Heritage Refined, Dreamhouse Vanity Array, Pop-Up Picnic, and Prism Daily have a single layout, so the Full and Simple button would not change anything. Those themes hide it.

Will my choices survive a restart or update?

Yes. The theme on screen and each theme’s layout and readings are saved on Mazda Connect. Restarts and ScreenTune UPDATE or REPAIR keep them. A package requested with Also reset Meters on the car to these choices replaces them once (details). REMOVE deletes them.

Which languages and units are supported?

All 41 languages and regions Mazda Connect offers. Meters follows the active Mazda Connect setting for language, miles or kilometers, Celsius or Fahrenheit, and 12-hour or 24-hour time.

Does Meters collect or upload my location?

No. Meters does not log or upload your location or vehicle readings. GPS values appear only when you select those fields and the car has a current, usable GPS fix.

Why does a field show ---?

The source may still be starting, may not exist on that car, or may have stopped updating or sent an implausible value. Meters clears an untrusted value instead of leaving an old number on screen. Fields marked RAW show the factory code without a unit, because its meaning has not been confirmed.

Will it slow down Mazda Connect?

Meters is built for the CMU’s 800 × 480 screen and processor, and each release is tested on the car with every stock theme, through restarts and with missing or extreme data. Return to the normal Mazda screens when you are done with it.

Can I use it while driving?

The display can stay open, but set up themes and readings while parked. The commander knob can change the theme and layout at any speed. Keep your attention on the road and treat the factory cluster as the authoritative instrument.

How do updates and removal work?

Meters is part of the ScreenTune package, so it changes only when you run a ScreenTune USB in the car:

• UPDATE installs a different ScreenTune version and keeps your Meters settings. See update ScreenTune.
• REPAIR reapplies the same version, including a same-version package with new themes, and keeps them. See repair ScreenTune.
• REMOVE restores the first-install baseline and deletes Meters and its settings. See remove ScreenTune.
