Is Meters a separate product?
Section titled “Is Meters a separate product?”Meters has its own product page, interface, documentation, and support boundary, like Hotkeys and the other Miatafy screen projects. It is delivered as part of ScreenTune rather than sold separately.
Meters is included at no extra charge when selected with a compatible ScreenTune build. Choosing it does not delay checkout.
Which cars can run it?
Section titled “Which cars can run it?”Meters follows ScreenTune compatibility. The car needs a factory first-generation Gen 6 Mazda Connect CMU running v74.00.324. Market, trim, equipment, and the infotainment generation still matter, so the ScreenTune configurator checks the exact car.
Does it need a phone, OBD adapter, or internet connection?
Section titled “Does it need a phone, OBD adapter, or internet connection?”No. Meters and its read-only telemetry companion run on the CMU. There is no phone app, account, OBD dongle, cloud connection, or extra screen.
Where does the vehicle data come from?
Section titled “Where does the vehicle data come from?”ScreenTune’s local telemetry service reads values already available to the Mazda Connect unit and provides them to Meters over a loopback-only connection. Meters validates type, range, age, and GPS quality before displaying a value.
The data reference lists all 59 selectable fields.
Is it an engine tune or a replacement gauge cluster?
Section titled “Is it an engine tune or a replacement gauge cluster?”No. Meters does not change the engine, transmission, brakes, steering, airbags, stability control, or emissions systems. It is a supplemental display on the center screen, not a replacement for the factory instrument cluster or warning lamps.
How accurate are the readings?
Section titled “How accurate are the readings?”Meters shows values supplied to the CMU and rejects stale or implausible data. Accuracy still depends on the original vehicle source. GPS fields also depend on fix quality. Treat the factory cluster and warning lamps as authoritative.
Is the RPM red zone correct for every car?
Section titled “Is the RPM red zone correct for every car?”Meters paints a red zone only when ScreenTune directly identifies a supported vehicle profile with reviewed tach facts. Unknown, ambiguous, or inferred profiles use a neutral 8,000 RPM reference scale instead of guessing.
How do I change a theme or reading?
Section titled “How do I change a theme or reading?”Use touch or the commander knob. The header changes themes and toggles Full or Simple layouts. Press any visible secondary field to open the data picker, then choose from Recent, Popular, a category, or All 59 Values.
The same reading may be assigned to multiple positions. Getting Started has the complete control map.
Why do some themes not have a Simple layout button?
Section titled “Why do some themes not have a Simple layout button?”BRG Heritage Refined, Dreamhouse Vanity Array, and Pop-Up Picnic use the same composition for Full and Simple. Those themes hide the Info control because it would not change the screen.
Will my choices survive a restart or update?
Section titled “Will my choices survive a restart or update?”Yes. ScreenTune stores the active theme, layout, and all eleven secondary assignments in durable local storage on the CMU. Normal restarts and ScreenTune UPDATE or REPAIR preserve the record. A complete REMOVE deletes it.
Which languages and units are supported?
Section titled “Which languages and units are supported?”Meters includes complete catalogs for all 41 locale codes exposed by Mazda Connect v74. It follows the active CMU setting for language, miles or kilometers, Celsius or Fahrenheit, and 12-hour or 24-hour time.
Does Meters collect or upload my location?
Section titled “Does Meters collect or upload my location?”No. Meters is a display, not a cloud service or location logger. Its browser code connects only to local loopback services on the CMU. GPS coordinates appear only when the owner selects those fields and a fresh usable fix is available.
Why does a field show unavailable?
Section titled “Why does a field show unavailable?”The source may still be starting, may not exist on that car, or may have become stale or invalid. Meters deliberately clears an untrusted value instead of leaving an old number on screen. Raw source codes also remain unconverted until their unit or enum meaning has calibration evidence.
Will it slow down Mazda Connect?
Section titled “Will it slow down Mazda Connect?”Meters is built for the CMU’s fixed 800×480 screen and 2012 Opera Presto browser. The production interface uses a stable DOM and updates text and state without rebuilding the screen each frame. Release checks cover restarts, missing and extreme data, touch, commander input, and every production theme.
As with any screen app, use Meters only when needed and return to the normal Mazda interface when you are done.
Can I use it while driving?
Section titled “Can I use it while driving?”The display can remain open, but configure themes and fields while parked. Keep attention on the road and use the factory cluster as the authoritative instrument. Local laws and the driver’s responsibility still apply.
How do updates and removal work?
Section titled “How do updates and removal work?”Use the matching ScreenTune USB. UPDATE installs an eligible newer ScreenTune package while preserving settings. REPAIR restores managed files for the current package. REMOVE restores the first-install baseline and removes Meters and its settings.
