Using AA Touch: Touchscreen Input in Android Auto

AA Touch lets you use the factory Mazda Connect touchscreen in Android Auto. Stock Gen 6 Mazda Connect never passes touch to Android Auto, even while parked. With AA Touch you tap, swipe, and drag on the screen, parked or moving, and the commander knob, steering-wheel controls, and voice input keep working alongside it.

AA Touch is an optional ScreenTune add-on, included at no extra charge.

AA Touch comes in a new package from My ScreenTune:

  1. Sign in to My ScreenTune.
  2. Select Add AA Touch under Add to your car, or select Change features.
  3. On Add-ons, select AA Touch, then review and request the updated package (add or change ScreenTune features).
  4. Download the package when it is ready and prepare the USB.
  5. In the car, choose UPDATE, or REPAIR if the prompt shows the version you already have.

New orders. In the configurator, select AA Touch on the Add-ons step. Its card changes from Add for free to Added.

AA Touch adds touch to an Android Auto connection the car already has. It does not add Android Auto, its USB hub, or a wireless connection. Before adding it, confirm Android Auto starts and works with the commander knob.

Touch works parked or moving. The driver remains responsible for using the screen safely and lawfully, with whichever input keeps attention on the road.

Mazda’s software leaves the touchscreen out of what it tells Android Auto, and sends touch in a format Android Auto cannot read. AA Touch tells Android Auto the display has a touchscreen and translates the panel’s touches into the format it expects.

CarPlay is unchanged. Touch in Mazda’s own screens and CarPlay while moving is a separate option, Touch while moving.

  1. Open Applications → Miatafy and select WHAT’S INSTALLED. The list should include Android Auto touch support and Android Auto touch controls.
  2. Connect your phone and open Android Auto.
  3. Tap an app on the Android Auto launcher, then drag the map in Google Maps.
What you seeWhat to do
Android Auto works with the knob, but touch does nothingDisconnect and reconnect the phone. If it still ignores touch, insert the ScreenTune USB and choose REPAIR (repair ScreenTune).
The two AA Touch entries are missing from WHAT’S INSTALLEDThe installed package does not include AA Touch. Add it as above, or run REPAIR if the package should include it.
Android Auto does not start at allAA Touch cannot fix that. Check the phone, cable, and USB hub first.

If touch still fails, see a feature is missing or get help.

To drop AA Touch but keep ScreenTune, open Change features, deselect AA Touch on Add-ons, request the package, and install it the same way.

REMOVE deletes the AA Touch program and restores the Android Auto settings to their first-install baseline, the copies saved at the first ScreenTune installation. If the car was stock then, Android Auto goes back to knob, wheel, and voice control only. See remove ScreenTune.
