Before You Buy ScreenTune: Worldwide Compatibility Checklist
ScreenTune is for compatible first-generation Mazda Connect CMUs worldwide on v74.00.324. Model and year locate candidates; country of original sale and trim help predict the factory equipment.
Step 1: Confirm v74.00.324
Section titled “Step 1: Confirm v74.00.324”Open Settings → System → About → Version Information. The form asks only whether the visible version is v74.00.324. You do not need to transcribe or select the region code; the installer reads and verifies the complete build before changing anything.
Common final-build presentations include:

Older 55, 56, 59, and 70 versions identify the original CMU but do not meet ScreenTune’s target. Do not install a firmware package from another region. See getting to v74. The installer—not the order form—handles the exact build check.
Step 2: Identify the country of original sale
Section titled “Step 2: Identify the country of original sale”Use the market the car was built for, not the country where it is registered now. An imported Japanese CX-8 in the UK remains a Japanese-market car. This controls trim names and equipment pre-fills; it is not a restriction on who can order.
This detail resolves several real exceptions:
- United States CX-5 and CX-9 changed for 2021.
- Canada changed both at the 2021.5 midyear update.
- Mexico retained original-style CX-5 and CX-9 candidates through 2023.
- Australia and New Zealand sold old and new CX-5, CX-8, or CX-9 systems side by side by trim.
- Germany in 2023 and Austria in January 2025 listed 8-inch MZD Connect and 10.25-inch new-generation CX-5 trims side by side.

Step 3: Record trim and build timing
Section titled “Step 3: Record trim and build timing”Trim matters where systems overlapped. Enter the exact trim, plus a build month or 2021.0 / 2021.5 designation when available. Not sure is acceptable and routes the vehicle combination to review.
These model families contain first-generation Mazda Connect candidates in at least one researched market:
- Mazda2 / Demio DJ/DL, excluding Mazda2 Hybrid
- Mazda3 / Axela BM/BN
- Mazda6 / Atenza GJ/GL facelift
- CX-3 DK
- CX-5 KE facelift and KF
- CX-8
- CX-9 TC
- MX-5 / Roadster ND through the source-market changeover
CX-4 and Fiat/Abarth 124 Spider are manual-review cases. Shared screens or vehicle architecture do not prove compatible firmware.
Step 4: Check the interface, but do not certify by screen size
Section titled “Step 4: Check the interface, but do not certify by screen size”The first-generation system normally has a touchscreen while parked, square home-screen tiles, the original commander layout, and a 55 through 74 About-screen family.
Screen size is supporting evidence only. Original-system cars can use 7-, 8-, or 9-inch panels. Newer cars can also use an 8.8-inch panel, so an 8-inch-ish description does not settle the generation.
Step 5: Answer only unresolved equipment questions
Section titled “Step 5: Answer only unresolved equipment questions”The order intake derives factory equipment from the sourced country, model, year, and trim profile. It asks only when equipment is optional or the owner must decide whether to keep it:
- Whether factory CD, DVD, or TV hardware is present; present hardware is always preserved
- DAB or DAB+
- Built-in SiriusXM audio, Traffic, Weather, or Travel Link
- Mazda navigation or compass
- Mazda-menu Aha or Pandora
- Mazda’s built-in voice-command interface
Every optional-service checkbox is conservative: leave it unchecked to keep the feature. Stitcher is the only globally inferred app removal because the service ended. ScreenTune does not replace radio-region, language, or navigation resources, and it does not infer that local vehicle applications are unused from the absence of an embedded modem.

The intake previews the payload before checkout
Section titled “The intake previews the payload before checkout”Submit the ScreenTune order intake with:
- Country of original sale
- Model and model year
- Trim and build timing
- Confirmation that the version contains
74.00.324 - The factory features you use
The form shows the predicted service changes, raw process RSS, early CPU observed by 2:08, and individual initialization spans represented by those candidates. Shared memory means the displayed total is not unique freed RAM, and parallel process spans are not additive boot-time savings. A reported profile mismatch preserves the predicted services and routes the submission to review.
No candidate is approved from a year table alone. A supported worldwide vehicle profile can continue directly to checkout after the required equipment questions are answered. Uncertain vehicle combinations and profile conflicts stop for review; the installer verifies the exact firmware before applying a modifying plan.
