ScreenTune After a Mazda or Dealer Firmware Update

Photograph Settings → System → About and contact support before you run the ScreenTune USB again, even if the version looks the same. A Mazda firmware update or reinstall rewrites the system files ScreenTune changed, and the safe next step depends on the version the car ended up on.

Signs that a firmware update replaced ScreenTune

Section titled “Signs that a firmware update replaced ScreenTune”
  • The factory touch lockout, startup disclaimer, or menu beeps are back.
  • Meters or Miatafy is gone from Applications.
  • The ScreenTune USB no longer brings up a prompt.
  • The car recently had a dealer visit, an infotainment repair, or a Mazda update.
  1. Open Settings → System → About and photograph OS Version and Region. Check your firmware version shows where to look.
  2. Zip the contents of the ScreenTune USB.
  3. Send both to support with your order email. See get help.

Support confirms which package and action fit the car now. What the About screen shows usually points one of these ways:

About screen showsWhat it usually means
The same version as beforeThe firmware was reinstalled at the same version. Support confirms which action your USB should run.
74.00.331 or another newer buildScreenTune does not support that build, and the USB shows no prompt. See unsupported firmware. Do not downgrade without a support review.
An older buildThe CMU was reflashed to earlier firmware. See unsupported firmware.

A new or replacement CMU in the same car does not use up a license transfer. Miatafy reviews the replacement unit and reissues a compatible package at no charge when ScreenTune supports its firmware, region, and infotainment generation. See the CMU was replaced.
