How to Install ScreenTune on Mazda Connect
ScreenTune ships as a ready-to-run USB drive. Nothing to copy, no files to prepare. You insert it, the CMU applies the changes and reboots itself, and you’re done in about two minutes.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”- Confirm the car has a Gen 6 Mazda Connect head unit. See before you buy.
- Confirm firmware is v74.00.324A — the only version ScreenTune installs on. See check firmware.
- Not sure either way, run the compatibility intake before you start.
Installation
Section titled “Installation”- Start the car. Engine running or ACC/ignition-on both work.
- Wait for the infotainment system to fully boot — home screen visible.
- Insert the USB into the media USB port (the center-console port you’d use for music, not a charge-only port).
- Wait about 60 seconds.
- The CMU reboots on its own when it’s finished.
- Once the home screen is back, confirm the changes applied.
- Pull the USB and keep it.
Re-running the same drive re-applies the same changes, so the install is safe to repeat.
Don’t interrupt it
Section titled “Don’t interrupt it”The only way to leave the system in a half-modified state is to cut the process off mid-write.
- Leave the USB in until the reboot finishes and the home screen returns.
- Leave the ignition on through the whole sequence, including the reboot.
- Wait for the home screen before inserting — don’t feed it the drive while the CMU is still booting.
Verify it worked
Section titled “Verify it worked”| Action | What you should see |
|---|---|
| ScreenTune | Disclaimer screen gone on the next ignition cycle; touch works while driving |
| Miatafy app → Uninstall | Disclaimer screen returns; all ScreenTune changes reverted |
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”| Symptom | What to do |
|---|---|
| USB not recognized (nothing happens) | Try a different USB port. Confirm the home screen was up before you inserted. Remove and reinsert. |
| Install seems to hang | Give it a full 2 minutes. If nothing, pull the USB, ignition off, wait 30 seconds, restart, retry. |
| No automatic reboot after it finishes | Ignition off, wait 30 seconds, restart. Check whether the changes applied. |
| Changes missing after reboot | Run the USB once more. Still nothing, see support policy. |

- Uninstall: after reverting through the Miatafy app, a second reboot may be needed before every stock behavior fully reinitializes.
