How to Install ScreenTune on Mazda Connect

ScreenTune ships as a ready-to-run USB drive. Nothing to copy, no files to prepare. You insert it, the CMU applies the changes and reboots itself, and you’re done in about two minutes.

  1. Start the car. Engine running or ACC/ignition-on both work.
  2. Wait for the infotainment system to fully boot — home screen visible.
  3. Insert the USB into the media USB port (the center-console port you’d use for music, not a charge-only port).
  4. Wait about 60 seconds.
  5. The CMU reboots on its own when it’s finished.
  6. Once the home screen is back, confirm the changes applied.
  7. Pull the USB and keep it.

Re-running the same drive re-applies the same changes, so the install is safe to repeat.

The only way to leave the system in a half-modified state is to cut the process off mid-write.

  • Leave the USB in until the reboot finishes and the home screen returns.
  • Leave the ignition on through the whole sequence, including the reboot.
  • Wait for the home screen before inserting — don’t feed it the drive while the CMU is still booting.
